Sept 27 Fishing Report

Fraser River Salmon

Salmon fishing has remained good on the Fraser River, still lots of Pink Salmon in the river as well as a few Coho and Chinook Salmon. Water clarity is 12 to 14 inches which should be good enough to bar fish for Chinook or cast spoons and spinners for Coho. For casting Spoons for Coho, the Gibbs Ultra Lure is one of our favorite and most productive lures. These same lures in 1/3oz also work well for Pinks. For Coho use the Sterling Silver, for Coho try one with a bit of Pink in it.

Here is a big male Pink called a Humpy.

Fraser Sturgeon

Sturgeon fishing has been very good this past week, our average charter is producing 8 to 12 fish between 3 to 8 ft. Yesterday STS Guide Rob Dieleman landed his largest of the year measuring 9 ft 3 inches, Tom came in with a 8 ft 4 a few minutes later. These are Trophy fish for our guests from UK and Alberta.

This fish measured 8 ft 4 and was caught yesterday by STS Guide Tom Pearce.

Not the best of Pics but this fish measured 9 ft 3, great job guys.

The Harrison River has been fishing well for both Pinks and the odd Coho, over the next week we will start to see many more fish enter the system including the Chum Salmon.

If you are wanting to book some of the best fishing of the year, the last two weeks in October through to mid November is best.

We have a few specials for mid Oct and November fishing, check out our Home page or our Specials Page at http://www.guidebc.com

Here is a beauty Fraser River Chinook.

Vedder River

The Vedder river is starting to fish well for Coho, we have been catching a few at the Mounth and anglers fishing the river are pulling out some nice fish. Best method is either float fishing with cured eggs, orange or pink wool or try fly fishing some of the slower water in the lower river. The Fall Chinook should be coming in soon as well.

Don’t forget to checkout our Face Book Page, Tight lines and see you on the water.

Fishing Report for Sept 22,2011

Fish’n is Hot

Vancouver Salmon Fishing.

Fishing around Vancouver remains good, we have been seeing quite a few Chinook and Coho along the west shoreline of Vancouver. The T-10 and Bell Bouy are still producing some nice Chinook and we are seeing some larger Coho as well. Our 26ft Grady White is ready to go so if you are looking for a day out on the salt, this would be a good time.

Fraser River Salmon

Salmon fishing on the Fraser has been nothing short of spectacular. Currently we have groups from Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Alberta and BC and they are all going home with limits of fish, sore arms and some great Memories.

For Pink salmon we are fishing with Pink Jigs, Gibbs Ultra Lures and Fly fishing with sparse pink maribou flys. All 3 are working well. Coho are now starting to show up in the Vedder so when we are targeting Pinks we are hooking up with some nice bright Coho. Yesterday we landed 4 Coho in the 4 to 6 lb range.

Here is a beautiful silver Coho heading for the Vedder River caught on the fly.

Fraser Sturgeon Fishing

Sturgeon fishing has been excellent this past week, lots of fish in the river taking advantage of the 16 million Pink Salmon. If you put in a full day for sturgeon you can expect 8 to 12 sturgeon ranging from 3 ft to 8 ft, still lots of fish over 7ft being caught. These fish are very fat and are putting up a great battle.

Look at the Girth on this fish, wow.

Best bait has been Pink salmon eggs but you can catch fish on belly stips, gills, and just about any other part of a salmon.

This fish measured 7 ft 8 inches and gave these guest from the UK a battle of a lifetime.

What to expect over the next week.

We are still seeing some fresh Pink Salmon move into the Fraser, we are catching a mix of fresh fish with sea-lice and some fish that have been in the river for a time. We are seeing some beautiful Coho Salmon and some Jack Springs so this should continue to improve as we get closer to October. No reports of Chum yet but we are only days away from seeing them begin to move into the Fraser.

Late run Chinook are already moving in, if anglers don’t mind putting in the time, this is a great fishery that will last well into mid October.

Hope you have a great week.se you on the water.
