Great weekend to be out on the water, we had some beautiful sunshine, warm temperature and no wind. Fishing was fair to excellent depending on what you were fishing for. The Fraser River is dropping and shaping up real nice, Upper Pitt was fishing well all week and Saturday was no exception, Gulf Islands continue to produce results although it has slowed a bit. See below for detailed report.

Vancouver Salmon Fishing has been fair to good, Gulf Islands have slowed a bit but there are still some nice fish out there. STS Guide Thomas Rutschmann was over in the Gulf on Sunday and managed to put one nice 20lb Chinook in the boat, they had a few more chances. Anchovi has worked well using the Rhys Davis Teaser head in a full metal jacket trolled behind the Gibbs/Delta Guide Series Lemon Lime Flasher. Most of the hits were between 120 & 160 feet at a 1.9 to 2.3 troll speed.

Fraser Sturgeon fishing has improved over the past week, water levels have stabilized so not too much debris coming down. STS Guide Braeden Szlabon has been mostly fishing off to the side of the river, back channels and anywhere the river is moving slower than main current. Lamprey eel has been working well but also getting some fish on Salmon eggs and Eulichons.

Pitt River Trout fishing has been excellent, lots of fish in the 1 to 3lb range and the occasional larger fish up to 5lbs. Fly fishing with larger streamers, egg suck’n leech and minnow patterns have all worked well, for spin fishing the Gibbs Ultra Lure is working best.

The Pitt River is one of those special places that remains deer to your heart once you have experienced it. June and July are the best two months for fly fishing this river , we also offer light tackle spin fishing if you prefer this method. Hells Gate Jet Boat Tours start up on August 2 and run through until October 15, we offer two trips, the 4 hour Hope to Hells Gate and the 2 hour Hope to Sailor Bar. Dates are limited but we will do our best to get you out.
