Spring Update

First day of Spring has finally arrived, this means our saltwater trips will begin to produce some better results and sturgeon fishing will really heat up with the annual migration of Eulachon ( smelt ) into the Fraser River. Salmon fry will begin to hatch which will also improve the local trout fishing so overall fishing will greatly improve along with the weather.

We are now booking up our last few West Coast Salmon & Halibut Package for Quatsino Sound. We still have two trips available from July 8 to 12 and July 13 to 17, these are 4 nights 3 days all inclusive for just $1975 per person. This trip is truly a trip of a lifetime with spectacular fishing for both salmon and halibut.

Sturgeon fishing out of Vancouver is really going to heat up over the next 4 to 6 weeks, lots of fish are moving into this area of the Fraser for spring feeding so it’s a great time to get out and experience this world class fishery. Our boats depart from Vancouver marina on a daily basis.

Great fishing all Spring and Summer, give us a call.

Not a bad morning on the water

Vancouver Salmon Fishing has been fair to good, our guests Mike and Erin were out this week and managed to land a couple nice keepers and some crab to take home. Not bad for a day on the water in middle of February. Sturgeon fishing has been excellent this past week, lots of fish being caught and the weather is great. If you’re looking to get out, email us at sts@guidebc.com

We update our facebook page on a regular basis and sometimes offer specials that are not offered anywhere else, join our facebook page today.

One of our clients was out fishing sturgeon this week and managed to land his biggest fish to date, congratulation Kevin on landing an 8ft 10" and 10 footer in the same afternoon. Fraser River Pre-season Estimates Just Arrived

2015 Sockeye & Pink Run Pre-Season Estimates have just come in. Looks like we will have another great year of salmon fishing on the Fraser River.

The Sockeye Pre-season estimates looks like this.

Low or 10% – 2.3 million, 50% probability 6.7 million 90% at 23.5 million fish. At 2.3 million there would be no recreational fishery, at 6.7 there would be some opportunity made available for recreational sector, 23.5 million and it would be similar to last season.

The Pink Pre-season forecast looks like this

Low- or 10% 7.6 million, 50% probability 14.4 million, 90% at 27 million. The average pink run is around 13.8 million so the 50% estimate is just above average run size.

The total run estimate for Pink and Sockeye at the 50% probability is over 20 million salmon returning to the Fraser River so I would safely say we are going to have another great season of fishing for both salmon and sturgeon.

Can’t wait for Summer.
