Sept 6 fishing update

Fishing has been good to excellent this past week, now that the Fraser has re-opened. You can fish for Pink Salmon, Chinook and Coho salmon on the Fraser and approach areas. Most anglers who are targeting Pink Salmon are using Gibbs Crocs in Pink or casting jigs. The confluence of the Vedder River is producing some great results as well as Harrison confluence. Sturgeon fishing has been excellent with many large fish over 7ft being landed by our guides.

Salmon Fishing

Now that the Fraser is open many anglers are targeting Pink Salmon as well as Chinook Salmon. You can bar fish, spin fish or fly fish for salmon on the Fraser using your choice of lure or fly. Fish are pouring into the river with each high tide so peak of these runs are usually mid to end of September. As more Pink Salmon return to the Fraser the main stem river will begin producing great results, look for shallow slower water near the shoreline or the edges of back eddies.

Sturgeon fishing has been good to excellent this past week, lots of larger fish over 7ft landed, yesterday between our guides our team landed 11 fish over 7ft and 4 over 8ft and many 5 and 6 foot fish. This is quite amazing for any fishery and the best is yet to come. Most of the sturgeon are coming on fresh pink meat but you can also use lamprey or salmon eggs if you don’t have any pink salmon. Best is to catch a few fresh fish and use the belly strips and heads for sturgeon.

Here is a beauty sturgeon landed yesterday, this fish measured just over 8ft.

The salmon and sturgeon fishing will only get better over the next few weeks with October being one of the best months for both salmon and sturgeon, we will be targeting Chum, Chinook and Coho as well as Sturgeon. We are currently fishing the Mission, Chilliwack and Harrison area as well as the canyon out of Hope.

Looking for a charter on the Fraser or downtown Vancouver, give us a call.

Have a great weekend.
