Subject: FN0758-RECREATIONAL – Salmon: Region 2 (Fraser River: Mission Bridge to Alexandra Bridge): Extension of Closure to Salmon Fishing

Further to FN0702, the recreational chinook management measures in effect for

the Fraser River in Region 2 (from the downstream side of the Mission Bridge to

downstream side of the Alexandra Bridge) will be further extended past the

previously announced July 31, 2015 date.

This fishery is now scheduled to open Monday, August 3, 2015.

The Department will continue to review stock status and environmental

information on a regular basis to help inform future fisheries management

decisions and fishing opportunities. Updated information will be announced by

fishery notice.

Some great fishing this past week, Vancouver Ocean, Fraser River Sturgeon and Pitt River Trout. The season is well underway with lots of options and action.

The Fraser River is fishing well with some great catches of sturgeon on a daily basis. Some larger fish being caught this week using salmon parts and lamprey eel. Fishing the incoming tide has produced best results but we are still having fair action on outflow tide as well.

Vancouver salmon fishing has been excellent this past week, lots of Pinks and Coho around as well as a few Chinook. Fishing has been good on west Vancouver shoreline and well as the freighters. Most of the guides are running Gibbs Delta Guide Series flashers with spoons or hoochies, anchovie has also produced good results.

Howe Sound has a good run of pink salmon that arrived last week , you can fish from boat or shore near sea to sky hwy on the way to Squamish.
