Oct 2 fishing report update

Fishing has been fair to excellent the past two weeks, now that the Fraser is open , we are able to fish for salmon and sturgeon on all charters. Good numbers of Coho and Chinook have been migrating up the Fraser and this past week Chum numbers have greatly increased. The next 6 weeks offers some of the best fishing of the season and we still have some great dates available.

Like I mentioned above, salmon fishing is really picking up, local rivers such as the Vedder, Chehalis and Harrison are really coming into their own now that we have had a bit of rain and some great tides. The guides have been getting some nice sturgeon down in Mission / Chilliwack area , the lower river below Mission is also fishing well.

Opening day, 5 minutes into fishing Thomas landed this beautiful wild Coho while Bar Fishing the Fraser, Bar fishing is one of the selective fishing methods used to catch salmon during Fall salmon migrations. You can Bar fish for Coho, Chinook and Chum Salmon so time to put away the Bottom Bouncing gear.

If you are looking for a guided salmon or sturgeon trip, please give us a call or e-mail. 604-671-3474 or e-mail us at sts@guidebc.com

Sept 13 Update

Here we are already in Mid September with 2 thirds of the fishing year already in the books! It is hard to believe how fast the seasons go by. There have been some amazing fish caught this year and we still have the whole fall season to go!

We are right in the middle of our fall season with Sturgeon Charters in full swing and Salmon fishing just beginning on the local rivers like the Harrison Vedder and Stave rivers. The Fraser should re-open in the next week for Coho, Chinook and Chum fishing. The river is in great shape so we should have some great results! Although our fall is very busy we do have some good dates still available. Call the office for options available.

As mentioned above some of the best sturgeon fishing is yet to come, October is one of our best months so we are looking forward to some great fishing for sturgeon. We offer day trips of 4,6 and 8 hours and multi-day packages with or without accommodations. Come join us for some great October action.

Lots of negative news about salmon fishing with longer than expected closure of the Fraser, the good news is that we are still offering daily salmon charters on the ocean and we are now seeing good numbers of salmon entering the Vedder and Harrison River where we are fishing the confluences. We are not able to fish the main stem Fraser but we are casting spoons and spinners for Coho and Chinook at the confluence of these rivers where fishing has been fair to good.

We have had some great trips into the canyon and still have 2 or 3 dates left for the full day canyon adventure, give us a call to check dates.

We still have lots of great fishing, come join us.

Have a great week

August 21 Report Update

We have had some amazing fishing the past few weeks with many large sturgeon caught , tagged and released. The salmon fishing was closed on the Fraser due to low sockeye numbers but we are still offering Vancouver Salmon charters out in the ocean and our West Coast Salmon and Halibut Charters are producing great results.

Sturgeon fishing remains consistent with many fish over 7ft being caught on a regular basis, best baits has been salmon parts and lamprey eel. Our best sturgeon fishing is still yet to come, October is one of the best months to fish the Fraser for both salmon and sturgeon. We still have plenty of prime dates available and offer day trips as well as overnight packages.

We have been fly fishing the Upper Pitt for sea-run Bull Trout as well as fishing Vancouver area for salmon. Both fisheries has produced good results and like the Fraser, the best is still yet to come. Over the next few weeks we will see a transition take place where summer salmon will pass through and our Fall runs will begin to show up. This is when the fishing gets even better, Booking for October is a great way to ensure a trip full of incredible memories.

Last but not least we have had a few cancellation for our Fraser Canyon Tour, we still have a few dates in September and early October. The canyon is a special place to see and Vic is the guy to show you the upper reaches. We will continue to offer canyon trips through September and into early October so it’s never to late to give us a call.

Have a great week and Hope to see you out on the water
