We just finished up with the Victoria Boat Show , this show is smaller than our local BC Fishing & Hunting Show but if you are looking for deals on Saltwater Fishing gear, this was the place to be. Island Outfitters is one of the top stores and guide outfitters in the Victoria area offering great service and some of the best deals on Tackle. While I was busy working indoors at the show, Tom was out on the water testing the new Penn Squall Lever Drag Reels. These reels are new for 2012 and offer the angler a great alternative to the heavier full metal jacket reels. The Penn Squall comes in a variety of sizes suitable for Salmon, Halibut and Sturgeon. The lightweight graphite coupled with a machined Aluminum Spool makes these reel extremely light weight yet durable and saltwater resistant. We will have them at the show this weekend, drop by Penn/ Berkley booth and check them out.

Speaking of guides being on the water while I am working shows, here is one of several steelhead that STS Guide Thomas Rutschmann landed over the weekend. WOW what a chromer , nice steelhead Thomas.

Vedder Steelhead Report

The Vedder is in prime shape with lots of fish in the system. With each rainfall brings in a fresh push of fish. Over the next few weeks we should see some of the best fishing of the year. We are still offering one on one and small group instructional guide trips, e-mail us for information on these trips.

Tom was out yesterday trying out a few of his favorite winter spots. Beautiful day on the water with sunshine, friends and they landed a few fish. As mentioned above Tom was trying out some new tackle so great day over all. Tom’s getting booked up for the 2012 season so if you are planning a trip and would like to request Tom, don’t wait until he is booked solid.

BC Boat & Sportsman Show this weekend

This weekend drop by the BC’s largest Boat & Sportsman Show at Tradex center in Abbotsford. STS will be there with a booth inside and our big twin engine boat will be parked out front.

Come say hello to our team of Guides, they will be at our booth all weekend. I will also be on Stage at the Fenwick Pro Fishing Panel which will be on the main stage once each day. Times will be posted at show and on banners in the Tradex building.
