Fishing Report for July 29

Vancouver Salmon Fishing

Well the fishing has remained good over on the Eastern side of the Island with some great catches the last week off Gabriola and further north in the Nanaimo area. Not all days are spectacular but the fishing is by far the most consistent as the local scene in the harbour and Fraser mouth has been slow. There are some indications that this is changing as some coho have started to show up off the Capilano mouth and some Chinook starting to be hooked in the outer reaches of the harbour. We landed 2 Coho Today and are starting to see some Pinks As well.

We have hooked 10 fish in two trips and have been very lucky to get 7 of them to the boat. A few very healthy Coho have been mixed in with the Chinook which is very cool. We landed the biggest fish of the year last night at Thrasher weighing in at 33lbs. We also landed another around 12lbs. Fishing was a bit slow but it sure was nice to end the day with this beauty. We are in full summer swing right now with tonnes of opportunity to get out on the water with us either on the Fraser or the ocean for salmon, trout or sturgeon.

Fraser Sturgeon

Water is still very high on the Fraser but the last two days we have seen a substantial drop. Sturgeon fishing has been fair to good but you really have to work for your fish. Yesterday we have a group out that landed 8 fish with all over 5 feet except 2. The larges was 7ft 7 and a 6ft 8 which are both great fish.

Vedder River Salmon

The Vedder has been producing some great Chinook Fishing this past week. One of our guides has been fishing it daily with excellent results. Most of the Chinook are now starting to color a bit but yesterday we landed a chrome 13 lb Chinook that was on the dinner table tonight. There are quite a few Jacks in the river as well so make sure you clearly identify before killing it as there is also a tone of Sockeye heading up to Chilliwack lake. All of our fish have been caught on prawns and the sockeye are just swallowing those things.

Pitt River Trout

Fishing on the Pitt remains steady. We never know what to expect with water this year but over all the July fishery was good. With late run off I think we will see some good August fishing for Trout and salmon on both fly and gear. We are not available for trips on the Pitt early next week but by Thursday our schedule starts to open up.

We are on the water daily, fishing Salmon out of Vancouver, Sturgeon on the Fraser and Vedder and Trout fishing on the Pitt. If your looking to get out on the water, please call or e-mail us for availability.

Fraser Valley fishing report July 10

The fishing in the valley is getting going, the Fraser river is dropping nicely with decent catches of 5-10 sturgeon a day right now, with the river dropping our daily numbers will be going with better fish every day, this past week we landed a beautiful 8”4 fish with a few more 6 footers in between

We have also been fishing the Upper Pitt almost daily, the water is dropping and the fish are filing in here are couple from this past week.

June 29 Fishing report

Vancouver area & Gulf Islands Salmon Fishing.

Fishing in the Gulf Island region continues to produce good results. We have been on the water daily producing some nice Chinook Salmon. Yesterday we landed 6 salmon but unfortunately they were all a bit too small. Most of the fish last week were all between 16 to 25 lbs, we even produced one Chinook that weighed 27lbs.

Over the next month we will continue to focus our salmon fishing in the ocean waters surrounding Vancouver & Gulf Islands. By far this is the place to be in the Vancouver area. Although the Fraser will probably open for salmon fishing on July 15, water conditions will remain poor for most of July. We will have to wait and see how water looks in early August before we start salmon fishing the Fraser.

Pitt River Trout Fly- Fishing and Spin Fishing

The Pitt River has been a bit slower than we are use to but we are still producing some nice trout in the 4 to 7 lb range. Waters levels are excellent this time of year so regardless of weather we are always fishing good waters conditions. Both fly and Spoon fishing produces good results, the key is to fish the fly or spoon in fish holding water. Don’t waste your time fishing every run every hole, focus on key holding water and only fish those spots. I fish the Pitt much the same as I would steelhead, fish primary and secondary runs, leave the rest to the other anglers who don’t know any better.

Fraser River Sturgeon Fishing

The Fraser has been fishing fair to good this past week, the last couple days we have seen some aggressive feeding behavior with some larger sturgeon being caught. Yesterday one of our groups battled a large sturgeon for over an hour, the fish got tangled up in some debris on the river bottom and was never landed but they did manage to land a bunch of nice fish.

If you’re looking to get out on the water this week, we still have boats available for this weekend and next week. Just give us a call or e-mail to Book.

Currently we are offering

– Vancouver Salmon Fishing

– Gulf Island Salmon Fishing

– Fraser River Sturgeon Fishing

– Pitt River Fly- Fishing & Spin Fishing for Trout.
