Fishing is Hot and we have a last minute opening

Fishing is hot in the valley, we have done well for salmon, sturgeon, coho on the fly/spinners and chum on fly and jigs. Lots of sturgeon around this week, average boat catch has risen substantially with 10 to 20 fish on most 8 hour trips. How long that will last is any ones guess.

We just had a last minute cancellation for 3 days : you can choose one or all 3 of these dates.

Sunday Oct 14 – my 28ft boat in Fraser Canyon or Mission /Harrison area. Salmon or Sturgeon

Monday Oct 15 – Fraser Canyon or Mission /Harrison area. Salmon or Sturgeon

Oct 8 fishing report update

Great week on the water

Fishing has definitely improved over the past week, although sturgeon fishing is still up and down the past few days have greatly improved. Lots of salmon pouring into the Fraser and tributaries such as the Stave, Vedder, and Harrison. Although water is still low on these rivers, the salmon are at a point where they must begin to enter the rivers for their annual spawning ritual.

Harrison Chum Salmon caught near the confluence

Fraser Sturgeon

Sturgeon fishing has been excellent the past few days, best fishing we have seen in quite some time. Yesterday most of our boats boated at least 10 fish and our high boat was 22 fish landed. All I can say is "About time fishing picked up" Lamprey eel is still working well but salmon roe was the ticket for some of our guides.

Although nothing real big was landed yesterday, there was a few 6 and 7footers taken to the beach.

Nice 7ft 4 sturgeon landed near Mission.

Sturgeon fishing is just heating up, lots of good fishing still to come, in fact some of our best sturgeon fishing of the year is still ahead of us. Because of the lack of rain and late returns of salmon, late October through to end of November is going to be our best fishing of the season. We still have lots of great dates so give us a call and we will get you booked in.

November Sturgeon Special

Book a 6 or 8 hour sturgeon Fishing Charter for 3 anglers and the 4th angler fishes for free, or receive a FREE STS Hoodie with booking.

Salmon Fishing

Salmon fishing has really picked up the last 48 hours, lots of Coho around on the Fraser, Harrison and Vedder Confluence. Yesterday we had one group boat 8 coho and 1 Chinook casting spoons and spinners and one of our groups from Ireland landed some Coho and even a small Chinook on the fly.

Chum Salmon are really starting to pour into the Fraser Valley, lots of fish in the Fraser as well as the tributaries such as Stave, Vedder and Harrison rivers. With the long weekend almost over the fishing has been busy but nice to see some fish around finally. Next week should be a bit quieter on the water and we are really looking forward to the next 30 – 45 days as we should see some of the best fishing of the season.

Don’t be afraid of the word " November"

Why is it that it is so hard to convince people to fish in November? Scared of the colder weather perhaps? Don’t be, November offers some if not the best fishing of the season for sturgeon and salmon fishing can be very good as well. All of our boats are heated, covered and we have waders for everyone if needed. Come join us for some of the best fishing of the season, the boys are ready to catch some monster fish, Maybe even that record fish?

Canyon trips are still heading out daily, although we are booked solid for Most of the October, we still have some dates available for Last week of October and first two weeks of November. The rapids are getting big, Saddle Rock is rockin and Little Hells Gate is giving us a ride of a lifetime. Come join me for an experience you will not soon forget.

The views in the canyon are incredible, a trip of a lifetime for sure.

As mentioned above, the best fishing is still to come, come join us for the best of the best of 2012.

Oct 1 update

Sturgeon fishing picking up

The past two days we have seen some great sturgeon fishing in the Mission area. Yesterday we had 7 boats on the water, 2 fish landed over 8ft, several over 6 and good numbers of fish under 4ft. The tide at Mission is incoming most of the morning turn to outflow by early afternoon. The bite was off by late afternoon so you want to be on the water early morning.

The boys from Drayton Valley landed this nice 8ft sturgeon near the end of the day yesterday, nice fish.

Another beauty landed by Rusty Kempe of Powell River. Just one of several large fish they landed.

We saw a few salmon rolling and jumping while the tide was coming in but nothing like we are use to, I think we need some rain to get these salmon moving into the river. I think we just broke a record for longest period ever with no rain.

If you are wanting salmon, there are a few Coho and Chum moving into the Harrison River, Casey was scouting the Harrison yesterday and found a few Coho around the Chehalis confluence, water is so low that fish are very spooky, most hiding under brush or cut banks.

The Vedder is low and clear, fish are also spooky once the sun hits the water. First light and just before dark are you two best times to fish the river. Salmon eggs, small egg sacks and for fly fisherman, try a bead headed rolled muddler with long leader. I remember quite a few years back we had the same conditions and we did quite well with the rolled muddler, you can even fish it under a float and do well.

We still have a few spots available this week, give us a call if you would like to get out on the water.

Have a great week.
