It’s been a great couple weeks out on the water, right now we are fishing sturgeon on the Fraser River, Trout on the Pitt River and Salmon and Halibut fishing on the West Coast at our private lodge. Please see below for detailed report.
Sturgeon Fishing has really picked up over the past few weeks as water levels continue to drop. Some larger sturgeon in the 7-8 foot range have been consistent but that is day to day as you just never know when the big ones are lurking below the boat. Best baits have been salmon eggs, salmon belly strips and lamprey eel. Some of the best fishing is still to come and we still have lots of great dates available. Primetime is August through to November, we offer day trips or overnight with or without accommodations.
Have you met our newest super star guide Mathew Dirksen (top left) Mathew is a local boy who has been tearing up the local waters since he was just a youngster. A member of the Canadian Youth Fly Fishing Team since 2014 he has traveled around the world competing for Canada. Matthew is also an accomplished sturgeon angler who has been fishing the Fraser since a young child. We are confident you will enjoy your time on the water with Matt.
West Coast Salmon fishing has been excellent as well as bottom fishing for Ling Cod and Halibut. We are fishing Quatsino Sound area for the next few months putting our guests up at the new Kagoagh Lodge. We still have a couple dates available for this up coming long weekend. If your looking to get some fresh salmon and halibut in the freezer, this would be the trip to do. All of our packages include accommodations, meals and guided fishing. Give us a call if you would like to take one of our two available dates.
What an amazing weekend for this couple catching salmon, ling cod and snapper while fishing calm flat waters of Quatsino.
Pitt River has been producing some great catches of Bull Trout both on the fly and using light tackle spin gear. A good push of Bull Trout went through late last week which made for a good weekend of fishing. Water conditions are perfect right now so looks like we are going to have another great week of fishing. The Pitt River produces some good to excellent fly fishing throughout June and July for Bull Trout, Sockeye and the occassional Chinook, if you can get out before August 15 you should have a great trip.
Have a great week
