Nov 3 Fishing Report Update

Quite the week in the Fraser Valley, warm and sunny to wet, cold and now snow. The good news is that fishing hasn’t changed at all, it’s still very good and the weather is going to get better again by early next week. Lots of great salmon and sturgeon fishing going on right now. See below for detailed fishing report.

Sturgeon Fishing has been excellent to incredible, lots of big number days with 10 to 20 fish landed in an 8 hour charter. Most fish are being caught using salmon eggs but lamprey eel and rotten salmon skin ( stink bait ) is also producing some nice fish. Water temperatures are slowly dropping which sends a signal to feeding sturgeon that winter is knocking at our doorstep. When this begins to happen sturgeon feed aggressively until the food supply begins to dwindle.

We still have plenty of excellent sturgeon fishing in November so we are offering a great deal on day trips and over night packages, save $100 on our 4 person charters and save $200 on our 2 night 2 day packages. If you are like me and start your Christmas Shopping early, we will extend this offer for the 2018 season as long as the trip is purchased and paid in full by November 30.

Fraser River Salmon Fishing has been excellent for Chum and fair fishing for Coho. You have to work for your Coho usually being more patient while casting spoons, spinners, twitching jigs and fly fishing. The Chum fishing has been excellent both on the fly and fishing jigs under a float. Our good friends at GibbsDelta have aquired a new product line of jigs that are perfect for our local waters. Zak Tackle Jigs are perfect for fishing under a float, you can dead drift them or twitch them, eiother way works but twitching is more effective with the heavier jig heads.

For Color selection I would recommend the Pinks, Purple, Chartreuse for the Chum and brighter colors like Pink, Red, White and Chartruses for Coho. Dead drifting is when you allow the current to take your float down river without drag, when you add a twitch every 3 or 4 feet, iot really adds to the action and makes for a more natural presentation. Give it a try next time your out on the flow, you will be surprised how well they work.

Local rivers such as the Vedder, Chehalis, Dewdney and Stave are all fishing well for Chum, Coho and the odd late Chinook. Now that the weather temperatures have dropped, the rain will not effect these rivers as much and should keep them fishing well through the next week or until it warms up again if that happens at all. The Dewdney has produced some great Coho fishing and Norish Creek is also fishing well. The lower canyon in the Chehalis is also fishing well so don’t let this short lived cold weather storm stop you from get out.

We still have a good 2 to 3 weeks left for our local salmon fishery so get out and take advantage of the great fishing.
