October Fishing Update

Fishing Update for October 05, 2023

Fishing has been nothing short of spectacular, September has not disappointed. The Sturgeon Fishing has been amazing with lots of monster fish being caught over the past 6 weeks. I have heard the same from our associate guides who have also experienced great fishing. Check out this amazing fish below.

Sturgeon’s have been mainly feeding on Pink Salmon but now the Coho and Chum Salmon are entering the river, sturgeon will begin targeting these species. Chum salmon is one of the last food sources for sturgeon before winter settles in so using chum salmon as bait will become more important as we get closer to November. Salmon eggs, salmon parts including heads will work well.

Salmon fishing has been excellent since late August with Pink Salmon entering the Fraser first, the run size was larger than estimated so our fishery was open longer than expected for retention. All local streams were open for fishing and this fishery did not disappoint.

Coho Fishing has been good for those clients interested in putting in the time it takes to lure one of these beauties to bite. It takes a bit more patience and skill but very attainable if you take your time and follow your guides instructions. We are using spoons, spinners, jigs and our favorite, fly fishing. Coho fishing will not only continue through October but will improve as we get closer to November.

Chum salmon are now just beginning their migration up the Fraser and into local tributary rivers like Stave, Harrison, Vedder etc. We just recently caught our first chum of the season so plenty more of these to come as season progresses. We use many methods for catching chum which include; plunking, fly fishing, spoon, jig and spinners using like tackle spin gear.

Primetime For salmon and sturgeon is now through to end of November. We still have some great dates available if you would like to experience one of many great fisheries we have here in the Fraser Valley. Over the next 60 days we will continue to target salmon and sturgeon as well as offer our Eagle Tours and Kayak Tours through our sister company Harrison Eco Tours.

If your looking for a great outdoor experience, look no further. Through our parent company we now offer many outdoor adventure experiences, look no futher, let our professional team of guides help you discover what an amazing place we live.

You can also visit our website at www.guidebc.com or our Hells Gate Jet Boat Page at (1) Facebook

We hope you are having a great start to your summer and hope to see you this summer or fall. Keep in mind we don’t just offer fishing charters for sturgeon, we also offer salmon and trout fishing charters, jet boat tours, kayak rentals and e-bike rentals out of our Harrison Hot Springs office.
