December Fishing Update

The 2025 season delivered some of the most unforgettable sturgeon action the Fraser River has seen in years. Guided clients battled powerful, chrome-bright giants that leapt, rolled, and surged with raw strength, showcasing why this fishery is world-renowned. Consistent warm weather, strong river conditions, and exceptional fish numbers created day-after-day of exciting hookups, personal-best fish, and stories that will be told for years. From first-time anglers landing their dream sturgeon to seasoned veterans experiencing record-setting days, the season captured everything that makes STS, professionalism, passion, and truly remarkable sturgeon fishing.

Many of our salmon fisheries such as Sockeye salmon, Coho salmon and Chinook salmon have rebounded for the third consecutive year. We did see an opening for Sockeye from August 22 to Sept 1 which was short but appreciated by all anglers. The estimated run size prediction of 2.3 million fish was smashed by a return of estimated 9.6 million fish. 2026 is a high cycle year for late run sockeye so if this last year was any indication, we should be having another great summer of salmon fishing. Hopefully then opening will be a bit longer. We would suggest booking between August 15 to Sept 1 to time this fishery.

The Coho fishing on the Fraser and Tributaries was good late into the season. The Chum run started off slow and stayed that way through most of October with a late season opening for catch and release only. The Harrison is still fishing good for trout and sturgeon fishing continues to prove unstoppable. October and November are by far the best two months to experience both salmon and sturgeon fishing in our region so if your planning a trip for 2026 email us. If you can’t make it in the Fall and you still want salmon, we can do a Freshwater/|Saltwater combo trip fishing out of our Vancouver location.

If you are looking for a freshwater or saltwater fishing trip, reach out to us early as Vic Carrao (founder of STS) will be working with us for another season helping guests plan and choose the very best possible dates for an incredible fishing adventure. Vic has over 30 years experience in both fresh and saltwater salmon fisheries and knows most fisheries in SW British Columbia. Give him a call and let Vic help you plan your next Fishing Adventure.

Sturgeon

This fishery has evolved into one of the most incredible fisheries found anywhere in the World today. People travel thousands of miles and cross the Globe to experience the battle these freshwater giants offer tail walking leaps followed by screaming reels and runs that can easily spool you. I don’t think I have seen a better season for large fish than this past year. 2025 will definitely go in the record books. Still today as I write this, our guides are still out fishing and putting large aggressive fish on the beach for that Trophy picture.

What to expect for 2026 – Sturgeon

As mentioned above, Sturgeon fishing continues to improve and with average catch sizes increasing every season, we expect another great year fishing for these amazing fish. As many of our guests already know, there is no better time to fish for Sturgeon than in the Spring and Fall. Sturgeon fishing is at it’s best when there is lots of food available in the river, that is why it is important to speak to Vic or one of our other representatives to ensure the best possible outcome for your next fishing adventure.

November Fishing and Update

November fishing has been nothing short of amazing. I’m always mistified as why the month of November is so hard to convince people to come fish as it really is some of the best fishing of the year. I guess back in the day when we ran open boats, fishing in November could be a challenge and i get why people would be scared to book a trip in November but now a days we are running $100,000 jet boats with beautiful interiors, covered roof and every boat of ours has a diesel heater. Not too mention with global weather trends on the warming side, November can be quite pleasant and no crowds on the water. If you ask me, November is a perfect time to fish, infact it’s my favorite month.

GET THE Fly Rods out, November and December is a great time to get the fly rods out and hit our local waters. Our choice is the Harrison River as not only is the sturgeon fishing amazing, there is still some great salmon fishing to be had. Our guides know the Harrison better than anyone so , still time to get out and catch that fish of a lifetime. If it’s too short notice for you to visit this November, I would highly recommend considering booking for November 2026, you won’t be disapointed.

Did you know that we have a collection of fly patterns on our website for fly tiers. We have salmon, trout andf steelhead patterns for BC, checkout http://www.guidebc.com/fly-patterns

Over the next few months we will be reaching out to some of our favorite past clients to get you booked in early. We turned away too many trips in 2025 due to last minute bookings. Our team is not as large as it once was so finding dates that match can be challenging. The earlier we get you booked in, the better chance you have to get your preffered dates.

Jet Boat Tours for Christmas Staff Parties

If your looking for a unique place to hold a small Staff Christmas Party, one of our 28ft twin engine boats is the place to do it. We can take up to 10 people per boat and do either a 2 hour boat criuse on the Harrison River to view the Eagle migration or a shorten day guide trip fishing for monster sturgeon. We can provide a catered lunch and customize trip that fits your needs.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards
